Never change my desire to travel. All seasons are beautiful for different reasons. Since we’d have travelled in January, we have chosen a shortened tour which is known as The Minor Silent Ways. Avoiding the highest peaks and riding between 60 and 80 kilometres per day. La Via Silente is a circular route of about 600 km that traces coastal stretches and penetrates the mountains of Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park.
A journey between sea and mountains, through the hills and cities that with their history, their well-preserved buildings never cease to surprise. The places where Church and Landowners invested and built, where the earthquake destroyed, where nature amazes.
Here’s the story of a lovely trip along two valleys and around two lakes. Iseo Lake is known to be very popular during this time of year for couples and even for weddings. The lake of Iseo has several villages that are meant to be the perfect setting for a romantic movie. OK, I won’t get too cheesy, since I travel with a friend rather than a lover, but I do think we sometimes need a bit of romance in our lives.

Do you have a Gravel bike? “Why don’t you attend more gravel events and competitions?” someone asked to me once. I don’t know, I’m not really intrigued by big events and I don’t like competition at all. However I should say that the organisation and also the atmosphere of Gravel Sul Serio has nothing to do with a competition and it turned out to be a very good way to discover the roads and paths along the banks of the Serio river.
This was my first Sella Ronda bike day, which was instead at its 15th edition. From 8.30 in the morning until 3.30 pm the circuit was barred to traffic, only cyclists could go through and enjoy the Sella circuit without suffering the smelly exhaust gases and the constant sound of car engines. I love bicycle days!
A weekend to remember, while in Milan it was running Milanese Randonee for 120km on the average route, which I would have thought it was too much for myself. I learned once again how having a comfortable bike (like mine!), saving little energies on the way and looking beyond the horizon may be worth more than the strength you think you have or the training you have achieved.
Its full name as the sign mentions is Monte Acuto delle Alpi, 910 meters above sea level, at the end of a road that leads to a church and then ends up leaving space only for walking-paths. A dead-end destination, but in our case a goal to be achieved in one day.
The Langhe is a mixture of hills and vineyards that alternate with castles and historic villages connected by roads that rise and fall embracing a unique landscape. Perfect place for a autumn cycling holiday.
The spectacular cycling tour to this almost hidden landmark known as Chianti, was reason enough to visit Tuscany. The panoramic roads that wind throughout the hills of Chianti and Elsa valley hold many surprises. I came back with a new awareness, I must arrange another trip and choose other paths, because in this region there is so much to see, so much to discover.
