How to explore the hills around Bologna without a clear plan

Monte Calderaro and Monte delle Formiche are two I’m sharing with you a couple of options to explore the hills around Bologna, however, there is a lot of more. As you might know, Bologna is popular for its hills, there is also a song from Lunaop singing about the beauty and the freedom of riding among Bologna hills (even though the song is about rinding it on a Vespa ’50 Special)!

Visiting Bologna you can easily find a way to circle all-around using the main cycle lane called “Tangenziale delle Biciclette” but also exploring on your own its hills. For example, there is an app you can download with some information about the history or you can go for one of the tour operators that are organising experience in town. Instead, if you want to try and explore it on your own, you can follow my GPX and if you can get lost sometimes, I’m sure it will take you in other beautiful routes.
